SustainCommWorld is focused on educating communication professionals from corporations, institutions and government agencies how to develop sustainable green workflows and supply chains to lower their carbon footprint. SustainCommWorld currently produces two major events: The Business of Green Media in cooperation with the Cal Poly Graphic Communication Department and the Graphic Communication Institute at Cal Poly, and The Green Media Show, a conference and expo in Boston.
SustainCommWorld staff consults with institutions and enterprises around the world on issues related to sustainable communication – the production of sustainable media and the associated business challenges and opportunities that face the graphic arts community and those involved in media production. Senior executives are frequent speakers at conferences around the world.
To further spread their green message, SustainCommWorld produces a monthly newsletter "Green Media Newsletter," "Communicate Green Radio" a weekly radio show and will be launching TheGreenMediaBuzz.com, blogs focused on sustainable media.
The SustainCommWorld executive team is a group of experienced executives from marketing, business and exposition management, with over 100 years of cumulative experience. They have worked in world leading organizations like Apple, Seybold, GEC, and have had executive and board level consulting engagements for Xerox, Kodak, IBM, HP and DuPont. Association and publishing clients have included The Economist, Fortune, Ethical Corporation Magazine, The CRO, Piper Jaffray, AIGA, NPES and The Gravure Association of America.
Don is our Executive Vice President, Conferences, and a Senior Research Fellow with the Institute for Sustainable Communication. He has been a leading researcher, author and lecturer in sustainability for the last decade. Don is a "big picture" person with an encyclopedic memory for detail. His lectures are in high demand and his appearances span the U.S. and Europe.
He is also the Sustainability and Technology Editor for Graphic Arts Monthly magazine, Consulting Editor to Actuel Grafisk Information in Sweden and a member of the board of the AIGA Center for Sustainable Design.
Don's 30 year business career includes the role of President and founder of Nima Hunter Inc., a marketing consultancy that has executed engagements for Adobe, Agfa, Anderson Cenveo, Integrity Interactive, Kodak, NPES, and Reed Business Information.
Lisa Wellman Chief Executive Officer
SustainCommWorld, LLC is led by Lisa Wellman, capping a 25-year career that has included; Vice President of the Publishing, Entertainment and New Media Markets for Apple Computer; CEO of DeepCanyon.com, an HP spin-off; and recently the turnaround President of Radarworks, a premier Seattle advertising agency.
Ms. Wellman was also a founder of Digital Marketing Corp., Conference Chair of The Digital Marketing Symposium and served on the Advisory Board of the Graphic Communication Department of Cal Poly for many years. She was recently appointed by Governor Christine Gregoire to the Washington State Community Economic Revitalization Board, and is Chair for Washington Community Alliance for Self-Help, a micro-lending organization.
Kathleen Kaiser Executive Vice President, Business Development
Kathleen has 20 years experience as a senior tradeshow executive. She is known for planning and successfully launching four major tradeshows including Seybold Seminars for Jonathan Seybold.
She has created unique digital technology pavilions and innovative event production that sparked attendance at many shows including Graph Expo. Most recently she repositioned and led new growth for HDExpo.
Kathleen is founder of Indigo Woman, Inc., a tradeshow production firm for emerging technologies events including the Consumer Electronics Association, Reed Business Media, VNU Expos, PhotoEast, Graph Expo, the American Heart Association, the California Restaurant Association, Advanstar Communications and Xplor International.
Terry Wellman Vice President, Marketing
Terry began his career in Graphic Arts with the ABDick company, leading their marketing and product development efforts as they moved with the times into desktop publishing.
Wellman's 25 year career includes executive positions with GEC, plc., and Optronics, an Intergraph Division where he was the Marketing Executive responsible for domestic and International Sales and Marketing.
Wellman was co-developer of Hitting Color in the Digital Workflow, a multi-year technology pavilion for Graph Expo. He was also a co-founder of The Digital Marketing Symposium.
Wellman founded two successful corporations, Market Presence Inc. and Digital Marketing Corp., business consultancies whose clients included Apple, Adobe, Microsoft, IBM, HP, ProMAX, Flex Products and X-Rite.
Oya Demirli Institute for Sustainable Communication (ISC), Executive Director
The ISC is the founding sponsor of SustainCommWorld and, as such, has a close and on-going relationship with our organization. Oya Demirli is responsible for that relationship.
Her broad technical talents and areas of expertise include digital imaging and rich media publishing. Ms. Demirli was the co-founder and President of Studion Inc., a software company developing image processing for serving print, digital media and telecom markets. Prior to co-founding Studion, Ms. Demirli was the founder and Managing Director of Site One New York, a leading digital effects production company in New York City.
Ms. Demirli is a Professor in the Department of Advertising and Graphic Arts at New York College of Technology of the City University of New York.
